"Les Enfants Terribles" Live painting report

Last Saturday i was at the opening of "Les enfants terribles" group show in Lyon. I was so pleased to be part of it!! I met a lot of artists, Caia Koopman, Reg Mombassa, Naoto Hattori and Nicolas Thomas, Jeff Soto. We made this painting together during all the day.
Size 2,5 meters per 1,5 meters, Acrylic on canvas.
We spent such a great time to do it!!
Thanks to the Conseil Regional Rhône Alpes, Spacejunk art centers and of course Jerome, Kevin, Alban and Seb who organised everything!!

De tous temps, le monde de l’art a eu ses enfants terribles qui, par leur travail, bousculent les académismes tout comme les modes de diffusion et de légitimation établis. Une chose est certaine, ils ne laissent jamais indifférents. Cette exposition vient apporter un éclairage sur deux mouvements artistiques qui, s’ils viennent des Etats-Unis, jouissent aujourd’hui d’une reconnaissance et de réseaux planétaires : le « Lowbrow » et le « Pop Surréalisme ». Deux mouvements qui n’ont cessé de se croiser et de s’entrechoquer depuis les années 70, portés à coup sûr par des « enfants terribles » du monde de l’art.
La connaissance de leur travail s’est propagée mondialement grâce à des supports inattendus comme les pochettes de disque, les affiches de concert, les planches de skate et de snowboard, et certaines marques de vêtements de sport. A l’instar des millions de fans du groupe Guns N’Roses qui découvraient pour la première fois le travail de Robert Williams en 1987 grâce au disque « Appetite for destruction », un des albums de hard rock les plus vendus sur la planète (plus de 30 millions d’exemplaires), nombre de jeunes skaters des pays occidentaux ont découvert, fascinés, les décors des skateboards américains.
Nicolas Thomas, artiste français, se souvient : « J’allais dans les skate- shop comme au musée ». L’expression graphique de ces cultures se diffusait alors d’une manière aléatoire au gré des supports sur lesquels elle se trouvait fixée, le travail des artistes voyageant vers leur public, contrairement au « street-art » dont les réalisations murales rencontrent le public qui vient à elles.
Produite en partenariat avec la Région Rhône Alpes, cette exposition inédite prendra place sur « Le Plateau », espace dédié au cœur de son nouveau bâtiment, conçu par l’architecte Christian de Portzamparc. Avec 12 artistes venus de quatre continents, « Les enfants terribles » est un des événements « focus » de la Biennale d’Art Contemporain de Lyon.

Throughout time, the art world has seen its share of “enfants terribles” whose work questions academic standards and disrupts the established channels of distribution and ways of acquiring legitimacy. On any occasion, they never fail to provoke a reaction. This exhibition sheds light on two artistic movements which, although originally from the United States, today, enjoy worldwide recognition and a global following: “Lowbrow” and “Pop Surrealism”. Two movements which have been intersecting and colliding since the 70s, led by what you could surely call some of the art world’s “enfants terribles”.
Drawing their inspiration from comic books, cartoons, Kustom Kulture and, more recently, from the world of tattoos, skateboarding and alternative music, these artists confront us with our own cultural references, which are assimilated and forcefully depicted. Their work has become known worldwide. Thanks to the use of unexpected ways of showing art and new mediums such as album covers, concert posters, skate and snowboard decks and some sportswear brands.

Opening night the 14 may 2011!!

From May 14 to June 25, 2011 at MondoPOP International Art Gallery in Rome there will be an exhibition on the theme collective experimental:  Pimp my Art!  

The artists of the Pop Surrealist and New Contemporary Art will present their new works created by modifying and customizing existing works of art,  from photographs to postcards, from flea market paintings to vintage prints.  The typical practice in Pop art to transform the ordinary object is enhanced in this experiment to make art on art, as an ideal fusion between past and a contemporary mark.

  Images that take new life with the interpretation of artists from different hands and unmistakable style that has its roots, depending on the artist,  in Pop Surrealism, Lowbrow, Urban Art, Street Art .

An exhibition of art that becomes a service agency to offer to fans and collectors in order to look with a new eye at works of art that already belong to us.

Easy Painters - Exposition collective
Cinéma l'Atalante - Bayonne
Du 07 au 28 avril.

Dans le cadre de la septième édition du festival "Rencontres sur les Docks" du cinéma l'Atalante, Spacejunk vous propose une exposition collective rassemblant une nouvelle génération d'artistes issus de la scène locale. Influencés par le Street Art, les comics ou le Pop Surréalisme, ils bousculent les codes de l’art institutionnel, tout comme Dennis Hopper rompait avec le système de production hollywoodien lors de la sortie de son film Easy Rider.

Easy Painters est une exposition sur la thématique 2011 du festival de l’Atalante, "le cinéma américain indépendant". Les 16 artistes présentés ont pour matière l'immense production de films indépendants depuis la fin des années soixante jusqu'à aujourd'hui, avec notamment des réalisateurs comme Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch ou Sofia Coppola...

I have spend 3 days in St Lary 2 weeks ago for the Poney Session!! We have paint every nights with my artist friends Nico, Jean-Mi and Seb from Jeanspezial and Bizmut my roommate some new Salomon Snowboards.

Universal Love in all its ART forms

From January 29 to March 5, 2011 MondoPOP International Art Gallery talks about Universal Love. A group show that starring renowned artists of the Lowbrow and Pop Surrealist scene along with the new generation of movement, born in California from the roots of subcultures of the late 80sand unmistakable aesthetic arts.

Universal Love to celebrate the anniversary of Valentine's Day: wooden hearts become original paintings by the artists involved, transparenthearts that contain unique, low cost but high quality miniartworks to be ironic about a funny commercial holiday, even if we don't want to admint it.

Universal Love as the absolute feeling able to cross from the motherly one to the religious, from sexual to playful.

Forms and materials on which to experiment with an unprecedented exhibition of painted wood, plastic, 3D small artworks, side by side to a body of unmissing paintings.

World POP International Gallery scored another point celebrating the Universal Love with contributions from several Italian and international artists. Works, wooden hearts and heart shaped boxes custom plastic.

"Melody in Furs" Venus group-show Spacejunk art centers

In emerging countries, 1 out of 9 women will be affected by breast cancer. It seemed obvious for us to set up a project about this cause, involving the arts, youth, femininity and health.

Inspired by the famous greek sculpture, the VENUS exhibition gathers sculptors from the great school of woodcarving Antony Kenar of Zakopane in Poland, and artists selected by Spacejunk from the world of tattooing, painting or of art glass.

The exhibition brings together 16 sculptures realized in pairs. These artworks reflects every single artistic point of view of the artists about femininity and the refusal of fatality.

The peak for this new exhibition will be happening in October during the month of breast cancer. All the sculptures will be auctioned at Lyon - France, to raise funds for the benefit of Europa Donna, the European coalition against breast cancer.

Sunday 26 September i made a big painting on Wood 2 meters per 2 meters with my friends Bizmut and Delwood curated by Spacejunk art centers.
Really great manifestation is "La fête de la Corniche" (ocean ledge) in the Basque country, front of the ocean. Over 40000 people was there walking around the ledge, lot of children and her family.
This painting talks about the Biodiversity of the ocean. Acrylique and posca on wood panel.

Voici mon dessin pour l'exposition collective "School's out" L'école est fini à la gallerie Artoyz Parisienne.

Je l'ai nommé "Bender" personnage mythique de la série animé Futurama dont je suis un grand fan!! Comme précisez précédement ce dessin a été réalisé comme tous les autres artistes sur une feuille A4 de cours à grand carreaux. Les médias sont du stylo à bille (noir et bleu) ainsi que du graphite.

L'exposition collective Spacejunk "Stencil Only" se déplace à Lyon.
Vernissage le Jeudi 24 Juin à partir de 18h30, message au Lyonnais déplacez vous!! L'expo vaut vraiment le coup!!

Le pochoir, à la fois technique et mouvement, s’inscrit dans une tradition française de l’art urbain qui remonte aux années 80 et à la génération punk. Le pochoir connait aujourd’hui des émules partout à travers le monde, tant dans la rue qu’en galeries ou en salles des ventes.

Avec l’expansion du graphisme et de l’illustration contemporaine, le pochoir se définit comme un mode d’expression et un mouvement artistique en ce début de XXIème siècle.

Spacejunk a ainsi proposé un petit challenge à certains de ses artistes pas ou peu rompus à l’exercice de cette technique : se confronter, le temps d’une exposition, à un groupe d’artistes de la scène spécialisée européenne et américaine. Cette sélection est effectuée par la spécialiste européenne du pochoir Samantha Longhi.
Il ne vous reste plus qu’à rentrer dans l’arène de l’exposition « Stencil Only ».

Semaine suivante le jeudi 2 juillet, exposition collective cette fois ci chez Spacejunk Bayonne. Une exposition de sculptures peinte par différents artistes Français, Espagnol et Canadien.

Entre temps je peind sur les arènes de Bayonne toute la semaine avec les Jeanspezial, ne venez pas en pleine tempête par contre nous ne serons pas là ;).

DEATH POP MICKEY // Spacejunk "Stencil only" collectiv show

Bonjour entre un déménagement, des nouvelles collaborations dont je vous parlerais plus tard, et de nouvelles toiles je trouve un peu de temps pour vous montrer ce que je présente dans la nouvelle exposition collective "Stencil only" aux centres d'arts Spacejunk.
Un joli challenge pour moi qui n'ai jamais vraiment fait de pochoirs. Donc je n'ai pas osé tout faire au pochoir, c'est une mixed media, en gros le crâne a été réalisé au pochoir, et le reste avec de l'acrylique, pointe fine, posca, spray. Format 70 cm × 100 cm × 3,5 cm.
Le résultat est plus interessant a voir en vrai qu'en photo, c'est pop, c'est dark, et c'est Mickey!!

Voici la série des Abstraits présenté à la Spacejunk à mon expo solo.
Dans l'ordre : "Deep dream" , "Dante" , "Babylon" , "Flamingo" et "HeartBeat"
Pas énormément d'explication, juste la volonté de trouver des choses différentes à faire au niveau de mes traits. Recherche de couleurs aussi. Ca ressemble pour moi à des exercices...

"Nigth butterfly" triptyque Spacejunk Art center

Bonjour à tous je vous présente une des pièces de mon exposition solo "Premeditation" aux centres d'art Spacejunk qui m'a pris le plus de temps à faire près de 400h de travail, une des pièces aussi qui m'a donné le nom de cette expo.

Mon idée était de travailler dans le thème du papillon de nuit "Sphynx tête de mort" l'acherontia atropos et construire mon triptyque à partir de là. Les deux personnages représentent les ailes et l'ancre au millieu représente le corps, tout est parfaitement symétrique pour que l'effet soit comme je le voulais, il en est de même pour les éléments de l'installation. Voila pour l'explication.

Pour la technique c'est de l'aquarelle, café, stylo à bille, crayon et encre sur papier arches format 41,5 × 58 cm / 54 × 70,5 cm (encadré)

"Stencil only" Spacejunk art center group show

Cette semaine je participe à la nouvelle exposition collective organisée par Spacejunk : "Stencil Only"!! Donc sur le thème pochoir avec des grand noms de ce mouvement . Pour moi ca a été un peu la découverte mais le résultat est cool, je suis super content!!

Le pochoir, à la fois technique et mouvement, s’inscrit dans une tradition française de l’art urbain qui remonte aux années 80 et à la génération punk. Le pochoir connait aujourd’hui des émules partout à travers le monde, tant dans la rue qu’en galeries ou en salles des ventes.

"Bird pearl" est une aquarelle sur papier format 22/22cm, je ne vais pas vous la faire à l'envers toujours les mêmes techniques donc stylo à bille, crayon, thé et donc aquarelle sur papier ;).

"Bird Pearl" 22 × 22 cm / 31,5 × 31,5 cm (framed). Watercolour, pencil, ball point pen and ink on paper.

"Ghost lullabies" Melting pop collective show

Voici ma participation à l'exposition collective "Melting pop" organisé par le collectif Signature
Le thème de l'exposition été la signature donc, et de nombreux artistes Français ont répondu présent voici le facebook de l'asso ou vous pourrez retrouver toute les infos et toutes les oeuvres des autres artistes, l'album photo c'est par ICI
Vraiment un excellent projet, le vernissage s'est déroulé aux terasses Beaumont et maintenant tous les travaux se trouvent dans le magasin Empire à Pau, donc n'hésitez pas à y faire un tour pour découvrir tous ces jolis dessins!!

Je présente donc un triptique "Ghost lullabies"
Une série de 3 dessins format 21,5/14,5cm réalisé au stylo bille sur carton. Plus une petite sculpture en acier et plastique. Et trois petit écussons.
De la gauche vers la droite, "Audrey H", "Knot" et "Edie S".

Voici mon texte de présentation du triptique :
J’ai dessiné deux visages de «Pin up» connu Audrey Hepburn, et Edie Sedgwick. Audrey égérie de la marque Givenchy, Edie muse de Andy Warhol et symbole d’une génération. Le concept de signature vient dans la signature qu’elle laisse en mémoire, comme des fantomes qui nous hantent. J’ai représenté le fantome de ces muses, car ca m’a toujours fasciné ce terme de muse, ca m’a toujours semblé surréel, fantomatiques. Bref elles sont pour moi une signature dans mon subconscient.

Exposition "Premeditation" & "Springtime delights" & "Marcel Breuer"

Un moi de Mars assez chargé, vous retrouverez mon expo solo cette fois ci à Grenoble toujours aux centres d'arts spacejunk.
Vernissage le Jeudi 18 Mars à partir de 18h30 et je serais présent. Le lien de l'event facebook ICI.

Ensuite une exposition collective à La Rochelle, dans les Tours historique ou je présente 6 nouveaux dessins, l'expo s'appel "Springtimes delights", les artistes présent sont Delwood, GlaceLöve, Chris Bonobo, Tom, Polish. Exposition à partir du 20 Mars 2010, jusqu'au 4 avril.

Bonjour à tous!! Voici "Perle" une aquarelle sur papier de mon exposition solo "Premeditation" à la Spacejunk galerie, format A3, encrée au stylo bille.
L'exposition se termine dès demain à Lyon, donc un dernier rappel aux Lyonnais si ils veulent voir mes dessins de plus prêt, demain c'est la dernière!!
Sinon "Premeditation" se déplace donc à Grenoble toujours à la spacejunk, vernissage le 18 mars à 18h30!! Venez nombreux!!! Moi je serais là.

De retour de l'Ispo mon exposition a été réinstallé dans le nouvel espace spacejunk à Lyon.
Voici quelques photos de l'exposition, la galerie est ouverte du mardi au samedi de 14h à 19h30.
Et l'exposition reste jusqu'au 13 mars!! Donc n'hésitez pas à vous déplacer rue Capucins!!

"Premeditation" Move to ISPO

Mon exposition bouge le temps d'une semaine en Allemagne à Munich au salon ISPO.
Il y aura les expositions solos de Scott Bournes et Mathias Fennetaux, et l'expo collective Art is stick. Ainsi que du live painting avec Travis Parr, Nico Thomas, Nikodem, Vinz, et moi. Le tout biensur présenté par la galerie Spacejunk.
Rendez vous à Munich du 7 au 10 février au Hall A2.

My exhibition move to ISPO in germany during one week, 7 to 10 febrary in the Hall A2.
You can see at the ISPO the exhibitions of Scott Bournes and Mathias Fennetaux, and also Art is stick group show.
Also live painting with Travis Parr, Nico Thomas, Nikodem, Vinz, and me.
